Geraldine "Jerry" Berrios has been a municipal reporter at The Miami Herald since October 2000. She currently covers the city of Hollywood and the Seminole Tribe of Florida.
Before joining The Herald, Jerry covered city government and cops at The Kansas City Star. She arrived at The Star through the Knight Ridder Rotating Internship program. Jerry received a masters in journalism from Columbia University in 1998.
For seven months in 1997, she was the assistant editor at Latina Style magazine in Washington, D.C. Before her magazine stint, she worked in sports marketing for nearly five years.
She graduated from The American University in Washington, D.C. with a degree in Foreign Language and Communication Media in 1991.
Originally from Puerto Rico, she can’t live without her rice and beans.
