Veronica Garcia was until recently a copy editor on the National News Desk of the Los Angeles Times. Since arriving at The Times in 1991 to complete her second year of METPRO – the Minority Editorial Training Program for copy editors – she held a number of posts, including Page 2 editor and assistant editor on the Washington Edition.
She was a member of the staff awarded Pulitzer Prizes for coverage of the 1992 Los Angeles riots, the 1994 Northridge Earthquake and the 2003 Southern California wildfires.
Before moving to Los Angeles, she completed her first year of copy editor training at Newsday on Long Island.
She also has worked on the editorial staffs at the Californian in El Cajon and at the Southern Cross, the newspaper for the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Diego.
