Through our ongoing partnership between the NAHJ Sports Task Force and ESPN’s employee resource group SOMOS ESPN, an NAHJ student will be placed with ESPN. Applications will be accepted through February 21, 2020.
An NAHJ student has the opportunity to be placed in a paid internship with ESPN.
Paid for 10 weeks, 40 hours per week (rate will be discussed at the time of offer)
Held from June 8 – August 15, 2020
Internship will be held in Bristol, CT (or potentially Los Angeles, CA)
ESPN offers subsidized housing in Bristol, CT for non-local interns
$3,500 stipend to go toward housing and travel
Programming during the summer includes speaker events with ESPN leaders and networking opportunities with recruiters for full-time positions
Journalism major, interest in pursuing a career in sports journalism
GPA of 3.0 or higher
NAHJ student member
Undergraduate or graduate student with a target graduation date of May 2020, Dec. 2020 or May 2021

Students will be placed in a production internship:
ESPN’s Production Department produces content for ESPN’s family of networks that fans can watch on television, their computer, tablet or smart phone; examples include SportsCenter, Baseball Tonight and NFL Live. Internship responsibilities may include technical responsibilities such as operating a studio teleprompter system during live programming and content responsibilities such as screening games, producing highlight content and researching, writing and disseminating ideas for future content elements on ESPN platforms.
SOMOS ESPN and the NAHJ Sports Task Force, which promotes diversity in America’s sports departments and provides programming toward developing future sports journalists, will review applications and submit them to ESPN. Applicants will be notified in March.
