NAHJ and Yahoo Launch Second Year of the Joint Multimedia Journalism Fellowship Program

(Washington, D.C.) – Yahoo and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) proudly announce the continuation of the multimedia journalism fellowship program for the second year.

Initiated by Meghan J. Muniz in 2021, Yahoo and NAHJ will build on the program’s success by offering one new opportunity in three potential categories: Yahoo Finance – #1 digital destination for financial data, analysis and news, Yahoo News – Presents today’s most important headlines from respected and credible local and national sources, and TechCrunch – Covering the world of startups closer than anyone else.

Operating out of New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and potentially across the United States, the fellowship will commence on June 6, 2022 and last until June 2, 2023. Each fellowship offers competitive compensation packages, a flexible schedule, room to grow through mentorship, benefits, including comprehensive healthcare, a great 401k, and more.

The inaugural 2021 fellows, David Artavia, Yahoo Entertainment and Yahoo Lifestyle, and Dani Romero, Yahoo Finance, have contributed their talents to articles that follow their interests during their fellowship of one year. Artavia, former editor in chief of “Out” and “The Advocate” magazines, the nation’s leading LGBTQ publications, has recently authored an article Inside the massive grassroots effort to get LGBTQ Ukrainians out of the country safely. The article focuses on the extensive efforts of Safebow, TransCore Romania, and Kyiv Pride, in assisting trans and LGBTQ Ukrainians in safely crossing borders that are accepting refugees. Romero, a graduate of Baylor University and former reporter for KESQ, News Channel 3; KPSP; KDFX; Telemundo 15, has recently authored SBA’s Guzman on Biden’s small biz plans, and why ‘it’s not too late’ to tackle fraud. Each Fellow’s opportunity to bring their respective background to the Yahoo community and write about what topics they are passionate about reflects Yahoo’s commitment to fellows on having room to grow and mentorship.

Interested individuals can cross reference their experience with the respective qualifications for the fellowship here. The deadline to apply is April 29, 2022.

Yahoo and NAHJ welcome all interested parties to follow in David Artavia and Dani Romero’s footsteps in continuing the newest Multimedia Journalism Fellowship. All applicants must be NAHJ members and can join here
