Washington, D.C. – National leaders and members of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists will attend a White House briefing with top Latinos in President Joe Biden’s Administration on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023.

NAHJ President Yvette Cabrera will lead the delegation which includes diverse Hispanic journalists from across the country, including NAHJ past-president Brandon Benavides.

“As journalists of color, it is important for us to engage with every administration. We look forward to hearing from top White House officials during this visit, which will provide our journalists with the opportunity to ask questions about some of the most pressing issues of our time,” said Cabrera, noting the importance of providing equal access to Spanish-speaking members of the press.

As part of the visit, Noticias Telemundo Anchor Julio Vaqueiro, and Telemundo Los Angeles Anchor Dunia Elvir, who is national Spanish-at-large officer on the NAHJ board, will co-moderate a panel discussion. The panel will feature Emmy Ruiz, White House political strategy and outreach director, as well as Julie Chavez Rodriguez, who is senior advisor and assistant to the president and director of the White House office of intergovernmental affairs. More than two dozen members of the Washington, D.C. Chapter will attend the pen and pad briefing.
