Initiatives for the Next Generation

Our commitment to emerging journalists

The goal of NAHJ’s Emerging Journalist Program is to provide resources to NAHJ student members while guiding them along their collegiate path until they ultimately begin their careers in Journalism.

That support will range from financial aid to professional work experience, matching students with mentors to help them through the process.

It’s important that we prepare the next generation for their careers in journalism and advance our mission of #MoreLatinosInNews.

Scholarships

NAHJ has award over $2 million in scholarships since our inception. We offer students the option of either being awarded scholarship dollars towards their school year or a sponsored trip to the annual NAHJ conference.

Internships

NAHJ partners with news and media organizations to provide students and early career journalists the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with top newsroom leaders and industry professionals.

The Student Project

The Student Project is NAHJ’s premiere training program for student journalists, which takes place during the organization’s annual conference. Many journalists, leaders and educators got their start through this initiative.
