NAHJ welcomes Diana Maltez as director of development

The National Association of Hispanic Journalists is excited to announce the appointment of Diana Maltez as its new Director of Development. With over a decade of experience in national partnerships, program management, marketing, and event coordination, Diana brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to NAHJ’s mission.

“I am thrilled to join NAHJ during this historic year as they celebrate 40 years of providing a unified voice for all Hispanic journalists around the country,” Maltez said. “I’ve long admired this outstanding organization for its dedication to increasing Latino representation in newsrooms, enhancing coverage of Latino communities, and paving the way for the next generation of Latino journalists.”

Diana’s career includes leadership roles at nationally recognized non-profit and Hispanic organizations such as Prospanica, the Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility , and LATINA Style Magazine. She has worked closely with Fortune 500 companies on diversity and inclusion initiatives, focusing on hiring, retaining, and promoting Hispanic talent.

This appointment aligns closely with NAHJ’s five-year strategic plan; specifically, priority 4, which is to build infrastructure and expand capacity, financial prowess, and sustainability. Her extensive experience in creating national partnerships, managing programs, and marketing campaigns will play a crucial role in enhancing NAHJ’s fundraising efforts, such as our ongoing 40th Anniversary campaign, Advancing Our Mission, Securing the Future!

“This new addition will enable NAHJ to expand and forge national partnerships with both existing and new collaborators, ” said Yaneth Guillen-Diaz, NAHJ Executive Director. “We are also looking to enhanced, support, and create opportunities and programs aimed at bolstering our members.”

Beyond her professional achievements, Diana is passionate about giving back to the community. She has volunteered with various organizations and committees, including serving as a Board Member for the Dallas Hispanic Bar Association since 2022 and joining the Visit Fort Worth Hispanic Advisory Committee. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Tarleton State University.

NAHJ looks forward to leveraging Diana’s expertise and leadership to further advance its mission of empowering Hispanic journalists and promoting accurate and inclusive media coverage.
