Bylaws Review Session – NAHJ Memebers

Join us for the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) Bylaws Review Session. This session is designed to provide a comprehensive overview and discussion of the proposed amendments to our organization’s bylaws. Your participation is crucial in ensuring that our bylaws reflect the collective voice and needs of our community.

The new bylaws are published for your review. Key changes include:

• Membership classes and board positions are updated to reflect our jobs
• Important decisions no longer depend on a single annual, in-person membership meeting
• Gendered language is removed
• Changes have been made to membership categories to broaden enfranchisement
• Freelancers are explicitly regular members
• Academic members can run for board positions
• Retired journalists can stay on as “retired members,” a new category
• College students can vote for the student representative and regional directors
