The NAHJ National Board is seeking a Digital Vice President and we are now open to letters of interest.
The opening follows the resignation last week of former vice president, Mc Nelly Torres; we are grateful for her three years of board service and her contributions to NAHJ. The board will appoint a new Digital Vice President to serve through the remainder of the term, until July when elections are scheduled for the national representative positions.
The NAHJ’s Digital Vice President represents members whose jobs revolve around digital technology, provides guidance on member training, speaks out publicly on technology-centered issues, and helps assure the organization is using digital technology effectively.
The ideal candidates would be NAHJ members whose positions as journalists intrinsically incorporate the use of digital technology. Jobs along this line include but are not limited to: social media engagement editors, programmers, product managers, graphic designers and illustrators, content moderators, data analysts, and web developers and designers. This list is simply to give candidates an idea of who the board is seeking. If your job does not appear on this list but depends on digital technology beyond typing and photographing you are encouraged to apply.
The ideal candidates must also have knowledge and experience of the intersection between journalism and technology and be informed enough to guide our organization through challenges and the evolution of news consumption through journalism’s digital past, present, and future.
We are looking to appoint a member who is committed to the role and would seek to remain on the board by pursuing a full term in the summer board elections.

The letter should outline why you would like to represent NAHJ’s digital members and why you are the best candidate to serve in this position.
