As an intern at ABC News, you will perform a variety of editorial and production duties that are invaluable to one of the many shows and platforms’ success. Some of the departments or shows you could be working for are: Good Morning America, World News Tonight with David Muir, 20/20, Nightline, abcnews.com and The View.
You will play an integral role behind the scenes, to manage the enormous flow of information that comes in every day.
A day in the life…
- Assisting staff with all aspects of production
• Booking, assisting with breaking news, logging & transcribing - Shoot prep, shoot assistance & edit support
• Ordering footage, scanning photos & running errands
• Story development & research
• Daily office work including mail, digital media distribution & additional support functions

Here are more details on the paid internship with ABC News for an NAHJ student:
- Paid for 12 weeks, 40 hours per week
- Held from May/June to August/ September
- This is an in-person internship and it will be held in either our New York City or Washington D.C. office
- Stipend to go toward housing
- Programming during the summer includes speaker events with ABC News leaders and networking opportunities with recruiters for full-time positions
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate students in their Junior or Senior year
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and taking at least one class – OR – be a recent graduate of an accredited college or university within the last six (6) months
- NAHJ student member
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office with an emphasis in MS Word, Access, Excel & PowerPoint
- Previous internship experience, either print or broadcast
- Some experience related to social media including Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, YouTube

The Mission
The National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) Sports Task Force (STF) strives to provide development and support for student and professional NAHJ members working in all areas of sports media. We also are committed to holding organizations accountable as they pledge to provide more equitable workspaces.
In partnership with the NAHJ STF, CNN Sports is offering an exciting internship opportunity that will allow the selected candidate to explore the world of sports media, while also tapping into the resources and networks that directly speak to the NAHJ STF mission. The Internship
CNN Sports is looking for an all-star intern to experience, learn, and assist in sports newsgathering and production for all CNN platforms: TV and digital. We are made up of enthusiastic journalists who produce content airing on CNN's domestic and international television networks, as well as CNN.com. CNN Sports produces CNN International's premier sports show, CNN World Sport, airing multiple times daily.
The Daily
- Assist our sports newsgathering team by watching events and press conferences, then alerting key moments and soundbites for the network to use on linear and digital platforms.
- Monitor social media for daily news reactions, statements, and fresh video elements.Provide support to the CNN World Sport show team by creating graphic elements, transcribing interviews, researching stories, and gathering video elements for edit.
- Coordinate daily game recordings by monitoring video quality and router sources.
- Copyedit anchor scripts and network banners.
- Assist with basic administrative and production tasks.
The Essentials
- Passion for sports and a strong interest in storytelling.
- Successful candidates will demonstrate a knowledge of and active participation in social media as a news tool.
- Excellent communication (written & verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented and reliable.
- Proficient with Adobe Premiere (or similar) video editing software.
- Knowledge in FIFA Soccer would be a plus.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be an active NAHJ member
- Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university degree program for the full duration of the internship (proof of enrollment required)
- Must be a rising Junior, Senior or enrolled Graduate student (18 years or older)
- Must be in academic good standing (3.0 or above cumulative GPA) A transcript will be required to verify your GPA if an offer is extended.

Compensation: $20 an hour, $2,500 stipend and up to $5,000 for housing

2025 ESPN NEXT Production Summer Internship
About the Role & Internship
ESPN NEXT is the company’s Production Assistant program focused on multi-platform content creation for early-career professionals. The program looks for creatives who have a passion “To Serve Sports Fans, Anytime, Anywhere.” As a part of NEXT, you will join a team of early-career professionals that produce creative content for ESPN shows, live events, social/digital and company-owned platforms.
What You Will Do
As a Production Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain real-world experience producing different forms of video content for multiple ESPN shows and live events, while also contributing to social/digital content. This internship provides an opportunity to experience many aspects of the Production Assistant role within ESPN NEXT. You will report to the Manager, ESPN NEXT and support the team by:
Supporting content creation for various properties, which may include domestic and international studio shows such as SportsCenter, First Take, Ahora o Nunca, ESPN FC and more.
Pitching ideas, producing, and editing video elements for studio shows and/or live events while contributing ideas to social team to drive engagement.
Observe multiple areas of content throughout the internship to gain an in-depth knowledge or content creation producing stories.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Standard knowledge of multiple sports, especially sports heavily covered by ESPN
- Awareness of media trends (i.e. social, digital, linear, etc.)
- Familiarity with ESPN’s content across multiple platforms
- Ability to research and pitch ideas
- Ability to react quickly and positively under pressure
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in sports media, preferably content creation
- Passion for creative storytelling
- Experience editing video content using video editing software
- Fluency in Spanish (speaking, reading, writing)
Areas of Interest
In this role, you will report to the Manager of ESPN NEXT and play an integral part in supporting the team’s projects. This position is ideal for candidates passionate about building a career behind the camera in areas such as:

NAHJ and the Pedro Gomez Foundation are partnering to offer a summer 2025 internship with the Arizona Republic.
Location: In-person, Arizona Republic in Phoenix, AZ
Duration: 10 weeks-long, 40 hours a week
Compensation: $20 an hour, $2,500 stipend and up to $5,000 for housing

2025 ABC News/NAHJ Summer Internship
NAHJ and the Pedro Gomez Foundation are partnering to offer a summer 2025 internship with the Arizona Republic.
The Pedro Gomez Foundation was founded to honor the legacy of the award-winning sports journalist who passed away in 2021. Pedro was a beat writer, columnist and on-air reporter, who worked for the Arizona Republic before his long career at ESPN.
Although Pedro was a highly respected sports journalist, applicants can indicate whether they’re interested in an internship in news or sports.
This internship is for a bilingual student. Finalists must demonstrate speaking proficiency in Spanish and English and will be interviewed in both languages.
What the internship includes:
- This is an in-person internship at the Arizona Republic in Phoenix, AZ
- It is ten weeks-long, 40 hours a week, at $20 an hour
- Includes a $2,500 stipend and up to $5,000 for housing
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a current NAHJ member
- Enrolled full-time at a U.S. college or university
- In the fall of ‘24 will be a junior, senior or graduate student
- Majoring in journalism or communications
- GPA of 3.0 or above

The Internship
With exposure to the DEI resources at WBD, the selected intern will be dedicated to the WBD Sports Production team and paired with a mentor to guide them through navigating the sports industry, aligning with the NAHJ STF mission.
Warner Bros. Discovery Sports (WBD Sports) is the division of Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) responsible for broadcast of the highest levels for our major sports shows and events, including the NBA on TNT, MLB on TBS, NHL on TNT, NCAA March Madness and U.S. Soccer.
WBD Sports also operates Bleacher Report, the largest sports culture website, as well as the NBA TV on behalf of the NBA.
The Daily
Responsibilities include working on all aspects of sports production within the WBD Sports division, including but not limited to NBA, MLB, NHL and U.S. Soccer as well as our digital & social platforms.
- Interns will gain first-hand experience by observing, training and participating in the production of live studio telecast.
- Meet & engage with a variety of departments within WBD Sports including production, social media, library, marketing, talent services and Creative Sports Services Unit (CSSU).
- Compile, edit & log team/player footage reels for NBA, MLB & NHL.
