NAHJ / CBS News 2022 Summer Internship

NAHJ is now accepting applications for the 2022 CBS News/NAHJ Summer Internship. The intern will be placed with CBS Mornings and has the following components:
- Interns are paid a competitive hourly rateÂ
- Interns must be available full time between June-August (35-40 hours a week)
- Internship will be held in New YorkÂ
- If in person, a stipend for housing will be provided (see note below regarding COVID-19)
CBS Mornings
CBS Mornings is the national morning show on CBS, anchored by Gayle King, Tony Dokoupil, and Nate Burleson Monday through Friday. The broadcast offers a thoughtful, substantive and insightful source of news and information to a daily audience of 3 million viewers. The Emmy Award-winning broadcast presents a mix of daily news, coverage of developing stories of national and global significance, and interviews with leading figures in politics, business and entertainment.
Basic Qualifications:
- Strong research skills
- Attention to detail
- Team player
- Passion for news and journalistic integrity
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting news gathering activities for the broadcast including general assistance to producers and associate producers during production process
- Working alongside teams including day of air, medical, features, and/or booking departments
- Monitoring and gathering from news wire services, agency material, and various publications
- Logging material including interviews, press conferences, trials, b-roll
- Pitching stories, strong voices, sources, and visual elements to help tell the story
Eligibility Requirements:Â
- Must be a current NAHJ student memberÂ
- Must be enrolled full-time as a rising junior, senior or master’s student (grad date between Dec 2022 – May 2024) majoring in journalism, broadcasting or communications (preferred majors, other will be considered)
- Students graduating in May 2022 will not be considered for this program
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without holding a Visa or sponsorship
- College credit is not required, but we will provide appropriate documentation if needed.

NAHJ will review applications and submit them to CBS News for selection. Applicants will be notified in March.Â
