A U.S. Air Force veteran and current NYU student, Andres Guerrero was seven years old when he and his mother left their native Colombia and crossed the Rio Grande, arriving in Texas. “My experience as an undocumented migrant, service member, and waterman informs and inspires what I want to do as a journalist,” he says. He has ten years of experience as an Air Force imagery analyst, and more recently, he interned at Lima Charlie News and Sports Illustrated. Once Andres completes his degree in photography at NYU Tisch, he will join NYU Journalism this fall 2021 to pursue a master’s degree in journalism through the Global Journalism & Latin American/Caribbean Studies program.
