NAHJ Board of Directors Makes Three New Appointments to 2016 – 2018 Leadership
On Wednesday afternoon, The National Association of Hispanic Journalists approved two appointments to the vacant regional director positions in regions 5 and 7, as well as an appointment to Vice President of Print.
“I am thrilled these new board members answered the call to join our leadership team,” said Brandon Benavides, NAHJ President. “They are all volunteering their time and talent for our members in their regions and across the country.”
Gary Cooper is an Emmy-winning Multimedia Journalist and a currently works at Univision San Antonio. He is the incoming president of the San Antonio Association of Hispanic Journalists (SAAHJ) and will serve as the region 5 director, covering Texas and the surrounding states.
Miguel Gaytán has dedicated himself for over two decades providing resource to viewers and increasing brand awareness for broadcast television. Gaytán is currently the News Director at Telemundo Arizona and will serve as the region 7 director, covering Arizona and parts of the west.
The Board appointed Lucio Villa Vice President of Print. He had a big impact as a member of the NAHJ Chicago Chapter. He is currently an Interactive Producer for the San Francisco Chronicle. He continues to be extremely involved in his community by volunteering and giving back.
The Board is still working to fill the final vacancy for region four which covers Florida and the Southeast.
