Safety tips for journalists covering protests

Text, photo, and audio reporters: keep your head on a swivel, keep an eye on fellow reporters nearby who might be able to help you, or who might need help.

Video reporters: make sure you have someone next to you at all times. Non-video reporters can be looking around constantly between writing notes or taking a photo, but video reporters are stuck holding shots and looking through their cameras. Your newsroom MUST keep someone with you, stuck to you, to be on the lookout while you are filming. Do not allow yourself to be on your own.

Be aware of photographing and filming people doing illegal acts, they could want to take your camera if you captured evidence.
