NAHJ and Poderistas Collaborate to Elevate Latina Voices

September 10, 2026 — The National Association of Hispanic Journalists and Poderistas are collaborating on The Latina Lens, a new social-first video series featuring Latina journalists who will bring context, reporting and perspective to timely news and issues relevant to Latina communities.

Beginning Sept. 18 during Hispanic Heritage Month, NAHJ journalists will work with Poderistas, a nonprofit dedicated to informing, celebrating, and motivating Latinas to take action, to produce nine weekly episodes of The Latina Lens.

Each journalist will bring a distinct reporting style and perspective, while the series remains grounded in credible journalism, cultural context and the questions that matter most to our communities.

The video series celebrates the ways Latinas shape our communities, culture and country. Elevating emerging Latina journalists and the voices helping to shape how our communities understand the news will continue beyond Hispanic Heritage Month.

Both organizations will share the videos on their social media platforms and websites.

“NAHJ’s collaboration with Poderistas will create culturally relevant content focusing on Latinas with some of the best journalists in the country,” said NAHJ executive director Yaneth Guillén-Diaz. “The video series captures strengths of each organization to share relevant context and important Latina voices.”

Founded in August 2020, Poderistas uses social media, events, relational organizing and leadership training to “elevate, amplify and build power through their own actions and harnessing the power of the collective” for Latinas.

“For six years, Poderistas has been the space Latinas turn to when they want information they can trust, from people who get it. This partnership with NAHJ is a natural next step, pairing the community we’ve built with the expertise of trained Latina journalists,” said Charlotte Castillo, Poderistas executive director.

“More than becoming a newsroom, we’re doing what we’ve always done: connecting our community to the voices and information that matter most to them and centering LATINAS,” she said.
