October 29, 2025 – The National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) has announced a new collaboration with Sachamama, a nonprofit that focuses on climate action and Latino leadership, to provide journalists with training and resources for covering complex environmental issues, including the wide-ranging effects of climate change.
The collaboration includes three webinars, beginning with the first on Wednesday, November 19, at 6:30 p.m. EST, as well as additional sessions in 2026. NAHJ and Sachamama will also co-host a dedicated session and workshop at the NAHJ Annual Conference in New Orleans. In addition, NAHJ members will gain access to Sachamama’s Climate Hub resources, along with reserved seats in an upcoming Climate Leadership Course with Florida International University.
“Climate change is not just a story for environmental reporters or meteorologists—it shapes health coverage, business, immigration, politics, and even local community news,” said NAHJ Executive Director Yaneth Guillén-Díaz. “By expanding training and resources in this area, we are helping members across all beats strengthen their reporting on issues that increasingly touch every aspect of daily life.”
“We are excited to join forces with NAHJ to amplify Latino voices in climate journalism,” said Janette Luviano, Director of Programs and Operations at Sachamama. “Through this collaboration, journalists will gain access to tools and knowledge that are essential to informing our communities and holding decision-makers accountable on one of the most urgent issues of our time.”
NAHJ’s Climate Task Force will work closely with Sachamama to ensure the content of each training is tailored to the needs of Latino journalists. Members will receive additional details about the first webinar and registration instructions in the coming weeks.
Last week, Sachamama published its 2025 list of The Latinos Most Committed to Climate Action, in partnership with Spanish news agency EFE. NAHJ President Dunia Elvir served as a judge this year.
